Mary Ann and I are saddened to learn of Danny's death from his foxhole buddy John Mc Auliffe. Danny was a great and proud American who was gracious and kind. We are glad to have made his acquaintence along with Josephine to whom we send our deepest sympathies. Danny was great supporter of VBOB and on behalf of the National Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge we commend him to the Lord for his new and everlasting assignment at his last post in the service of the Lord in Heaven.
God speed dear friend,
John & Mary Ann Bowen

I was very saddened to hear of Danny's passing. You see I have come to know him through my dear friend John McAuliffe. John's story and thus Danny's are featured on my WWII site. I am glad I had the honor to share it with all the world. My condolences to all this family and friends, especially his WWII buddies. Rest in peace.

Though not a veteran myself, I maintain the web site for the 87th Infantry Division Association, of which Mr. Marini was a member. John McAuliffe sent me a story a couple years ago about his meeting and ensuing friendship with Donato in the 87th. The following year I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Marini at a reunion for the 87th. I really enjoyed the time I had talking with him, and am very saddened that he is no longer with us.
