Beverly White
1958-2009 HALIFAX Bev White of Kahula Farms, Captain Cook, Hawaii, formerly of Halifax, Vt., died in Honolulu, HI on November 30, 2009 of a hereditary disorder, Polycystic Liver and Kidney Disease.
Bev moved to Hawaii with her husband, Chris, in 2006 to raise coffee, citrus fruit and nuts. Until recently, Bev had been thriving in this new life, home of her mother's ancestors. She and Chris were rehabilitating their farm and had become active members of the local farming community. Bev had a fruit stand at their farm and also sold their products at the local farmer's market and on the internet.
Before coming to the Brattleboro area in the early 1990's, Bev was a computer programmer. She met Chris through their mutual interest in Morris dancing. Bev was a member of the Queensway Morris, Pennyroyal Morris and Wake Robin Morris and was a popular dancer and fiddler in the Los Angeles area in the 1980's.
Bev graduated from Stillpoint School of Massage and was a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner. She was the founder of Paradise Soap Works, making and selling various natural soaps, oils salves, soy candles and colorful whirligigs. She often sold her creations at the Brattleboro Farmers Market.
Bev loved all animals, especially cats, and gardening. There are 24 cats on her farm. Some of her favorites were Alf, Splash and Popeye.
She was a gentle and loving soul who walked softly on the earth. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A gathering to share memories of Bev will be held at a date to be announced. If you would like to be notified of this event call Mary Ellen at 257-0012.
