Wally was one of the first people I met when I was hired by the Self Storage Association. I will remember him as a kind and honest gentleman. He adored his family, and spoke warmly of his annual trips with his Dad to the WWII military reunions. The storage industry will miss him, and so will I!

I heard of Wally's death Saturday night 2/25 and felt heartsick. I knew Wally as a young boy. He was adorable, charming, and a gentle spirit. After not seeing him for 30+ years, he overwhelmed me when he drove into Rockford to attend my brother Tom's funeral in January. We had a wonderful conversation and I remember thinking,"Boy, he's the real deal." No longer a boy, but still adorable, charming, and a gentle spirit. I was so touched by his presence. He glowed as he spoke of his family and I noticed his easy laugh and warm smile. He was an impressive man.
I am so sorry I wasn't able to share in his memorial service but I know that he will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Wally's sudden passing. I remember him as a kind and friendly man, who was so very proud of his family and of his children's accomplishments. Jon and I have good memories of talking to him on the sidelines of soccer games, at school events and such. Words seem inadequate at a time like this, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Schultz Family: Like everyone who has heard the news of Wally’s passing, I was deeply saddened. I was fortunate to have met Wally through another mutual friend Terry Rider many years ago. Wally was a very proud father and possessed a consummate work ethic. He was always reminiscing about his family, especially his children. He had a strong passion about sports and will surely be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. My condolences to the entire Schultz family.

To the Schultz Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting the entire Schultz family recently after opening night for the show that Eric is currently involved in.
There are certain people you meet in life that fill a room with their presence and warmth. Wally was full of humor and laughter the night we met and made this new acquaintance feel welcomed...as if an old friend. Just from our brief meeting, it was apparent that he was indeed a man who took great pride in his family.
I am so sorry for your loss. May your memories help you through this very difficult time. God bless you.

Dear Eric,
This is Bill Marmitt. I coached you in soccer for a few years in AYSO. My son is Alex, your age, at HP high school. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad passing away. I know your dad used to love coming to watch your games. Him and I used to talk before games. He was a genuine nice person and I could tell he loved you very, very much.
Good luck in this hard time. My dad just died a year ago and it's not easy. My prayers will be with you!
Sincerely, Bill Marmitt

I was extremely saddened to hear the unfortunate news yesterday. Though I only knew Wally through the business I would consider him a dear friend. He was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I've ever met in this industry. He will be greatly missed.
