SAGAMORE BEACH — Donna Mae F. (Fournier) Spillane, 67, of Sagamore Beach, passed away on Sept. 29, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer, while surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of 45 years of John F. "Jay" Spillane, who affectionately called her "Hon," and the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Blanche (Cooper) Fournier.

She was born in Worcester on Sept. 21, 1941. At age 18, she moved with her family to Ashland, where she met and married her husband. Eventually, they moved with their children to Sagamore Beach.

Survivors include her widower; three daughters, Linda Dunlevy and her husband, Paul, of Marbury, Md., Patricia Marks and her husband, Andrew, of Mashpee, and Karen Rowley and her husband, Matthew, of West Wareham; a son, Kevin Spillane of Sagamore Beach; a sister, Frances Hagan of Ashland; and a brother, Leonard F. Fournier Jr. of Ashland. She was "Mimi" to her four grandchildren, Candice Evelyn Marks, Daniel J. Dunlevy, Patrick Spillane, and Madison Spillane.

Together Donna Mae and Jay operated Buzzards Bay News Store for more than a decade. She had a wonderful impact on her family and friends. She was a very strong willed, outgoing, caring person. She loved the spirit of Halloween, and always had the best Thanksgiving dinners. Donna Mae's favorite quote was "Slow down!"

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham.

Visiting hours are 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod Inc., 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.

To Jay and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. From your old neighbors on Flintlock Lane, we have very fond memories, especially the kids, with their fried dough on the first day of school each year. The Stubstad family from Florida, Texas, and Cape Cod. We know Donna will definetly be missed.

Dear Jay,
We have missed you both all these years since you moved from Ashland. I can see you both now in the old "News Store" downtown. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Celebrating a life well lived. Donna Mae will be not only a cherished memory but a mentor and role model in our lives forever. May all who knew her carry on her good deeds: smiles and chuckles to erase life's little difficulties and help ease the heartache and worry of bigger problems; unbounded love for friends and family; incredible food; finding, creating, celebrating happiness every day. The world has lost a shining presence; but what a party there must be in heaven!

We were so lucky to be part of her life. With love, Denise and Sam
