Nancy Lefco Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2008.
DENNISPORT —

Nancy A. Lefco, 71, went home to her lord early Friday morning, Oct. 3, 2008, from her home on Cape Cod. She was the wife of the late Walter W. Lefco, Jr.

Nancy was born in Willimantic, Conn., to the late Walter and Cecelia (Wojnar) Zaklukiewicz. She graduated from Windham High School in 1954 and received her nursing degree from the Ona Wilcox School of Nursing in Middleton, Conn. She was an RN at Middlesex Hospital for many years and continued her caring ways in several other positions in Connecticut and Cape Cod.

She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Kotlow, and her husband, and second son Dominik; son Michael and much loved Evey; devoted brother Roger Zaklukiewicz; and seven grandchildren.

Nancy and Walt moved to Dennisport in 1992 from Portland, Conn., after spending many summers on their beloved Cape Cod.

She will fondly be remembered in all our hearts as a true friend to all she met. Her strong faith and devotion to our Lady, taking two trips to Medjugorie, her impeccably respected lawn and gardens, and her delicious Christmas cookies.

Nancy was the glue to our extended family and was involved in many activities that benefited others, including the Family Pantry, Angels of Hope and The Women's Guild at Holy Trinity.

Visitation will be held today, Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Doane Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., West Harwich, MA. A funeral Mass will be on Monday, 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, 240 Main St., West Harwich, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 or The Family Pantry, P.O. Box 234, West Harwich, MA 02671.

Nancy came into my life during the time my 3 year old son, Michael, was battling cancer. I needed an Angel and she embodied that in every sense.

Her loving devotion to my son, her calm and comforting manner during our own time of fear and ultimately grief, and he unwaivering friendship that lasted for the next 14 years were all cherished.

I miss her greatly and wish I had one more opportunity to say thank you. To be an Angel for her as she had been for us. And to let her know how much she meant to all of us.

I suspect she knows that now. That she continues to watch over us, and that she is once again watching over Michael and gently stroking his smooth skin.

We love you Nancy and thank you...

I will miss getting Nancy's annual Christmas Card - if our faith is valid, she is now with Walt in a better place.
