Sidney Akerblom Obituary
Born in Brockton to the late Hilmer and Anna J. (Johanson), he resided in Brockton for many years. During World War II he served in the Army as a corporal. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1959 and was called of God to serving in Christian education and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was a graduate of Bridgewater State College with both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's Degree in education. In 1982 he was Ordained to the Gospel Ministry, and in 1988 he received a Ph.D. from International Institute and Seminary with highest honors.
He founded the Gospel Center and the Community Christian Academy, both in Brockton. He also began the South Shore Christian School at North Baptist Church in Brockton.
He moved to Cape Cod in 1999 and served faithfully as the Pastor of Visitation for Falmouth Baptist Church from 2000 to the present.
Besides his wife, Pastor Sid is survived by his son, Sidney P. Akerblom, Jr. and wife, Laura, and grandson, Aaron, all of Bourne; step-granddaughter, Micaela McCormick of Onset; sisters, Grace Duggan of Brockton and Lillian Quinn of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth Center. Interment will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, followed by a memorial celebration of his life at 10 a.m., at Falmouth Baptist Church, 60 Central Park Ave., Falmouth. A time of fellowship will follow.

Dear Mrs. Akerblom and "J.R.",
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Among other things, I will always be grateful for Mr.A's standard in having SSCA and CCA students memorize scripture. All these years later (we won't say how many) those memorized passages can be recalled.
Mr. A has left a faithful legacy behind for many people.

Mr. Akerblom,
