Helene B. Klosowski Knobloch

HYANNIS — Helene B. Klosowski Knobloch entered into eternal life, at her home, at the age of 97, on Oct. 10, 2008.

Born in Krakow, Poland, on April 28 1911, she crossed the Atlantic at the age of 2 years in a ship with her parents, Michael and Branaslavia Klosowski. She arrived at Ellis Island from Poland and proceeded to Willimantic, Conn.

Helen graduated from the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in New London, Conn., and completed her pediatric studies at Yale University. She met her husband, William Knobloch in the Roaring 20s era in New York City, while working at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

She is survived by her children, William F. Knobloch of Seattle, Wash., and Bonnie Cooper of Hyannis; a brother, Fred Klosowski of Willimantic, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She resided on Long Island, South Wellfleet, and Hyannis, and received her real estate broker's license in 1980.

She loved animals (especially cats), swimming, sewing, cooking, reading, and most of all making people laugh.

Helen was a very social person, who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and helping people whenever she could.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis. A Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church will follow on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m., at 347 South St., Hyannis. Burial will follow in Wellfleet at the Oakdale Cemetery.
