MASHPEE — Dolores R. Larocque, age 76, passed away on Oct. 14, 2008, at her home in Mashpee.

Born in Nashua N.H. in 1932, of Percy and Eleanor Pike, she is survived by her husband, Dr. Normand P. Larocque. She was the mother of six children: Philip Larocque of Roslindale Mass., Thomas Larocque of Colorado Springs Colo., John Larocque of Buzzards Bay, Lisa McKeon of West Haven Conn., Emily Larocque of Kauai, Hawaii, and Amy Larocque-Rumano of Tanzania. She had nine grandchildren.

Dolores trained at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester N.H. and later received her B.S. in Nursing from St. Louis University. After marrying in 1956, she taught obstetrics to student nurses at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal. Dolores accompanied her husband through his residency in Harrisburg Pa. and during his service in the Navy.

She settled in Taunton where she lived with her husband for 36 years and raised a family of six children. Dolores supported her husband's pediatric practice by managing the office and working part time as a nurse. She also attended Providence College where she earned a Master's degree in Religious Studies. Subsequently, she directed several CCD and bible study programs and was active in the Youth Echo program.

After retiring to Mashpee, she was very active at Christ the King Parish. She initiated the growth and development of the church library and was a member of the church choir. Throughout her life she remained committed to her family, church and community.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., Route 151, Mashpee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, in the Christ the King Church, Mashpee Commons, Mashpee. Burial will follow in the Great Neck Woods Cemetery, Mashpee Neck Road, South Mashpee.

In her honor, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Christ the King Church, 3 Jobs Fishing Road, Mashpee, MA 02649.

My condolence to Dolores's husband Normand and her family. I worked with Dolores in the church library. She was a lovely woman and will be missed.
