HINGHAM — J. Michael Driscoll of Hingham died suddenly on Oct. 14, 2008.

Michael was born in Cambridge and he served in the Navy during the Korean War. A retired state trooper, Michael was active in the former Massachusetts State Troppers Association. He also worked for First Security and Digital Corp. Michael enjoyed jazz, Caribbean traveling, Mohegan Sun, Humarock Beach and his swimming pool.

He was the beloved husband of Mary P. "Patsy" O'Brien; loving father of Dennis Driscoll and his wife, Robin of Cape Coral, Fla., and formerly of Sandwich, and Maureen (Driscoll) Burden and her husband, Thomas of Freedom, N.Y.; cherished grandfather of Rachel, Katie and Sarah Driscoll and Thomas and Michael Burden; son of the late Esther and Joseph Driscoll; dear brother-in-law of James O'Brien and his wife, Cynthia of Medway, Margaret Woodward and her husband, William of Hanover, John O'Brien and his wife, Maureen of Braintree, Kathleen O'Brien and her husband, Rick Thomas of Camarillo, Calif., Claire Mabbett and her husband, Tom of Yarmouth, Daniel O'Brien of Norton and Barbara Brooks and her husband, Stephen of Brockton. Michael will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and a grandnephew.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham, on Friday (today), Oct. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Driscoll,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served in the USN during the Korean War and secondly for the citizens of the Commonwealth when you served as a Massachusetts State Trooper. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Dear Mary, Dennis and my wife Maureen- I wish that the boys and I could have beed there. The boys thought of him as thier Grampa. I enjoyed having a margarita and talking with Mike, I am so sorry that I never got down to visit more often. Our thoughts an prayer are with you all. Mike wil be deeply missed.
