Virginia Low Obituary

BREWSTER — Virginia S. Low, 92, formerly of South Dennis, died peacefully on Oct. 22, 2008, at the Pleasant Bay Nursing Home of Brewster.

Virginia was born in West Hartford, Conn., and was married to M. Nelson "Hokie" Low for 63 years, who predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by three sons and two daughters: Peter and Imogene Low of East Dennis, Michael and Patricia Low of Glastonbury, Conn., Timothy Low of Key Largo, Fla., Susan and Kenneth Harkins of Greeneville, Tenn., and Barbara Low and Nancy Eaton of Brewster. She leaves eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Virginia moved to South Dennis in 1972, with Hokie from Wethersfield, Conn., where they lived and raised their family for 35 years. She was active in various Wethersfield club activities and the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary. She worked with the U.S. Postal Service during wartime and as a licensed practical nurse at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn., and at Cape Cod Hospital.

She was a past president of the Dennis Niners, and a bridge player, traveler and gardener.

Virginia will be remembered for her gracious way and her love of her family and her pets.

There are no visiting hours and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Any memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of one's choice.
