Michael J. Cryan

FALMOUTH — Michael James Cryan died on Nov. 26, 2008, in Falmouth, at the age of 70.

Mr. Cryan was born in Boston in 1938. He attended Mount Saint Charles Academy, graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Revere, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College.

After serving in the Army, Mr. Cryan received an honorable discharge. He was an active member of AMVETS in Falmouth. Before retiring in 2003, he worked in human resources, sales and nursing.

Mr. Cryan was the son of the late Margaret (née Mulrey, later Fothergill) and Michael Cryan, and stepson of the late Chelsea police captain Edward Fothergill. He was married to the late Joan (Dailey) Cryan, and is survived by three children, Michael S. Cryan, Esq., of Upper Montclair, N.J. and Los Angeles, Elizabeth Wilber of Woods Hole, and Stephen Cryan of Pocasset; two grandchildren, Madison and Ethan Cryan; and five siblings, John Fothergill of Chelsea, Laureen Quinlan of Shrewsbury and Naples, Fla., Meri Ellen Crowley of Ormond Beach, Fla., Paul Fothergill of Randolph, and Deborah McIvor of New Canaan, Conn. Mr. Cryan was predeceased by a brother, Richard Fothergill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset. Interment with full military honors will follow immediately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
