CENTERVILLE - Mardell (Dougherty) Gallo died on Aug. 8, 2007, in Centerville.

Mardell was born in Springfield, on Oct. 9, 1917. She was in show business and danced with her then future husband as Dawn of ''Dick and Dawn.” She and her family moved to Cape Cod full time in 1956. She was an Avon representative for 51 years until her passing. She worked at Cape Cod Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Most of those years were spent in the pharmacy department.

She was very involved with the American Cancer Society and on the board of the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was involved in the Centerville community as an active member of the South Church and a faithful worker at the political polls. She was at every voting day at the Centerville polls until her health failed her. The family will have a private funeral.
