Charles Brown Obituary

Charles Willis Brown, III
'Will'
Will Brown, age 42, of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, December 8, 2006. He was a quiet and gentle soul. He loved nature, history, and his family.
Will was born on October 18, 1964 in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from The Patterson School in Lenoir, NC in 1984 where he developed a love of the outdoors, camping, fishing, and mountain climbing. For his 25th birthday, Will visited ten western states, the Pacific Northwest, and provinces of Canada with his father touring and appreciating the wildlife. His mother taught him a love of gardening. Will was an avid reader and World War II buff. He had a dry wit and loved to tease family members whom he loved deeply. He was a loving son, thoughtful brother and devoted uncle. He was a resident of the Caramore Community where he worked on a lawn care crew and later at the UNC Medical Center of Chapel Hill.
Surviving are his mother, Debbie Brown of Charlotte; his father, Charles Brown, Jr. of Mooresville, NC; sister, Charlotte Ferebee and her husband, Chris; niece, Collins Ferebee and nephew, Christopher Ferebee all of Charlotte.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend Lisa G. Saunders and The Reverend Martha H. Hedgpeth, Associate Rectors of the church and The Reverend Jim Shock, of Serenity Church of Charlotte, officiating. Interment will be in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends in the Blue Room at Christ Church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Caramore Community, Inc., 550 Smith Level Road, Carrboro, NC 27510; Serenity Church of Charlotte, 4369 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, 28217; or Alexander Children's Home, PO Box 220632, Charlotte, 28222.

I have worked with Will "Big Guy" for the past several years as a job counselor and friend. Will had a way of keeping situation calm when everyone else was about to lose it. He was full of life, stories and thoughfulness and will be missed by everyone at Caramore Community.

I consider it a blessing that I was able to work with Will while he lived at Ephesus. I'll never be able to hear the words "alright now" without thinking of Will.

May his family find comfort in knowing that Will was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed by many. God bless you all.

I am a Patterson School friend of Wills and was in a reading class with him. Will was a gifted person that never could harm anyone. I would see him at the coffee shop thru out the years in Charlotte. We called him Wilber at Patterson. He had a calmness about him that made him a good man. God bless his soul.
