I met Christian thru a mutual friend Rob. We went out on his boat for a day and had a great time. we also had a super fun night at Manny's with super pictures. We always had so much fun and had unlimited laughs. I was surprised when I heard the news about his passing so early in life. God Bless him and his new journey.

I met Christian on a flight back in 2000. I was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines. Christian was charming and handsome. We spoke briefly on the flight. He gave me his business card, but unfortunately I never had the nerve to call him. I just found the card today and decided to look him up on the net, only to find such sad news of his passing. To his family my thoughts and prayers our with you.

To the Elder family,
I have just learned of Christian's passing, and would like to send my thoughts and prayers out to the elder family. I met Christian when we were in sixth grade, back when he hated us calling him Christian, we just called him chris back then. We were among best friends in middle school, but we started to lose contact as we got older and went to different high schools. I will always remember riding dirt bikes with Christian, and will probably think of him everytime I ride for now on. I was not surprised about his success racing cars, even back in middle school he was not afraid to take chances. We would always dare each other on our motorcycles, like to see who could jump the farthest. Christian was a blast to be around and had a zest for life that most people will never know. Thank you Christian for the memories and it was a pleasure being your friend through our childhood.

John & Family...it was such a pleasure to have known Christian when he drove for Great Clips. There was no better choice for the company's first NASCAR driver -- he set the bar very high for those who followed. I'll never forget the day the Goody's trophy arrived in the office. We were all so thrilled and proud of Christian.

I was so shocked and sad to read of Christian's death, and my heart aches for all of you. Though I'm no longer with Great Clips, I will always cherish the opportunity I had when working there to meet and get to know Christian and his wonderful family. God bless you all.

To Christian's family and many, many friends:
I met Christian way back in the day at either Elko or Raceway. He, along with Dwain Behrens wanted to make me race (even though I was a girl!). Christian moved me as a special man as he was so gentle and was so happy to greet his fans. I will never forget meeting him.

John, Sherry, Beth, Justin and Sarah,

I am quoting this from someone who sent this to us recently but this was so perfect. "The pain we feel at the loss of love is, in its own way, a tribute to how precious and warming that LOVE is to us. Be assured that while death may take a person out of our future, it cannot remove him from our past, that all things we loved a person for have entered so deeply into our souls that they remain part of us and their presence is every bit as real as their absence." I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN AND YOUR HEARTS WILL BE FULL OF JOY!
John 16:22

You are all in our thoughts and our prayers.

To the Elder Family,
I was saddened to hear of Christian's passing. His name was brought up during a moment of silence at the Elko Speedway last night.
I met Christian on Lake Minnetonka many years ago and could see he had a passion for life and friends. On one occassion we started talking about pheasant hunting, he went out of his way to invite me to their farm in Western MN that fall. I met him there and found that he was surrounded by friends and family that were truely generous and caring. He went out of his way to make sure that I had a good time. I lost touch with him, but heard that racing was what he truely wanted to do.
My prayers are with you all.

Christian was a great friend and a wonderful guy. He drove fast, played hard, and always had a smile on his face. I remember warm days water skiing with him on Lake Minnetonka without a care in the world. My heart goes out to his friends and family who are sharing in this horrible loss. With much sadness, Sheri Rentzepis (Weninger)

To the Elder Family,
My prayers for strength, peace and faith go out to your whole family. I have known Christian for 10 years. I had a lab named Gunner too and worked next door to his shop on Bailey Road-Great Clips. He was so kind to let my pup Gunner run around his race shop and play with his Ol Gunner. Christian did me a favor and spoke to a class of young children in Davidson, NC. We were good friends, shared great conversations about family, life and love. I know he loved his family dearly and was very close to you and lived life to its fullest. I am glad he did. I named my son after him which he met several times when he lived down the street from us in Denver, NC. I am shattered by his death but pray he is in peace.
Sherry, Scott, Christian and Gunner Hart.

August 23, 2007

Sherry and John,
My prayers are with you during this sorrowful time. While never having met Christian, the many messages of condolence describe Christian as a remarkable young man. Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly he glowed.

August 23, 2007

I am just learning today of the loss of Christian's life. I met Christian a little over a year ago and we hung out quite a bit and then became friends. We would take the dogs (I have a lab) to the lake and I would always ask, why can't you teach Charlie to be as good as Yukon! Henry would actually give me kisses which Christian said was a "good thing" that he was selective who his kisses went to. We would come back soaked in red mud! Lake Norman is great for that. He got excited to be around his friends and was such a giving person. I felt like he had a great heart and soul and cared about people. I am saddened by his death and my heart goes to every individual that knew Christian, I know they are all hurting. My prayers are for him, as well as his family and friends. May everyone's heart by lifted by knowing he is happier now than he has ever been. Christian, you will be missed.

Elder family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Christian knew of me racing when I first started, he gave me one of his driving suits. He also signed pictures for me. When I was a little girl, I had a BIG crush on him. I followed his racing career. He was a great man with many talents. He will be deeply missed by so many.

Race and water ski on (with your hair on fire) my old friend! You'll be missed by so many people. I'm sorry we lost touch over the years, but life has a tendency to roll on and get away from us. My thoughts are with you, your friends and family.

I was set up with Christian by a mutual friend back in 1995. Christian used to get his haircut at the salon I worked at (before Great Clips that is) We went out on a few dates but we ended up being great friends. He had such a positive outlook on life and was such an inspiration to me as he guided me through my early 20's. Although we lost contact with each other over the years I followed his career and was very proud of his accomplishments. I thought of touching base with him the last few years to let him know I'm married and have a son. I was shocked when I heard about his passing. Life is to short. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Until we meet again my friend.

I am very saddened when I heard the news today. And very much in shock. I am thankful I had the honor of meeting and getting to know Christian. Sincerely, Ashlee

May God be with you and lead you to the strength you need.

Christian was our first race car driver for Great Clips. I had the privilage of driving Christian around to visit a few of the Phoenix salons and everyone was so excited to meet him. Christain was great with everyone signing autographs and taking photos with everyone. We had a management class that wanted to meet him and we stopped by the training center and when we walked in there were 20 gals all lined up in a circle and wanting Christian to sit in the middle to ask him some questions, he did and then took several photos with everyone. I also attended the party held at his parents winter home here in Phoenix, which was also great. I did get to see Christian race a few times and I think we were lucky to have such a great guy to start Great Clips connection to racing. I am glad to have had the chance to have met Christian and I am so sorry for your loss!

John, Sheri, Beth and Justin,
I am sure none of us can feel the depth of your pain and loss at this time. Our hope is that you can feel all of our love and support through this time. Coming from the service today, I thought that Christian taught us all something - to really live life and enjoy it. You only have the ability to do that when you have such a loving and close family. Chistian had that. We were so proud to have Chrsitian with us at Great Clips. I don't think I can put into words the effect he had on the thousands of stylists at Convention. He was special. He held my son Wyatt at 3 months old at the showcar - Wyatt is now 6 and has the picture in his room. My word for the quilt after all I heard today is "giver". I think hearing more about his life today gave us another gift - to pause and enjoy life and treasure those around us. May your family go forward with all Christians joy in your heart and remind others to do the same. You will be in our prayers.

I thought it was cute that you didnt remember me and had fun teasing you about that the entire evening. I remembered you in high school as being very sweet, handsome and athletic. Our hearts were heavied by the learning of Christian's passing. As a school mate, I have many fond memories of him. Playing backgammon, his laughter and phrases he would share!! What a beautiful young man. We followed his racing career proudly and I would point out with glee to my children every time they would show him. We corresponded several times and hoped to be blessed to see him race one more time. We prayed that his setbacks would just be detours the Lord granted him. May you find comfort and strength in God's love and may you harvest the rewards of our Prayers to ease your burdens.

I met Christian in the mid-90's. Although in life we move on and lose touch, memories stay in our hearts forever. My fondest memories are when Lisa and Christian so graciously welcomed me into their home in the summer of 1998. To Christian's family, I never met your son even though I love Lowe's Motor Speedway and enjoy traveling to watch Busch & Cup cars race over the years, but felt the need to send my condolences. When I read Christian's obituary and saw in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lance Armstron Foundation hit home for me. I am leaving next Friday to participate in the 2nd annual LiveSTRONG Challenge in Philadelphia. It's people who come together to be a voice of empowerment that will get us to the cure. I feel very compassionate about the LAF and I want to run in your son's memory on the 26th. Donating in someone's honor or memory such as Christian speaks volumes of your son's character. My heart goes out to you and you all will be in my prayers.

My heart goes out to all of you in this very sad time of your life. Frankly, I don't know how you get through something like this, I only know that you will. I remember when Christian won the Goody's dash at Daytona. Knowing that he was in the race we had the vcr set, alas, there was a storm that day and our cable went out with about 10 laps to go. I called Sherry and I was hit with exuberance as she told me that yes he had won. I was able to tape a replay and I could see how happy everyone was. I was happy for him also.

It is hard to find words to express how I feel right now. I am so shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Christian's passing. Christian and I spent close to 5 years together and we shared some very special times. As I was looking through old photos so many wonderful memories came to mind: our times on the lake boating & fishing, parties at our house, winning the Goody's Dash race at Daytona, lots of racing memories, hunting with the dogs(Rio & Gunner) at the Ortfort, trips to Florida, scuba-diving in Cozumel, long walks and hours of conversation, our movie marathons; but most of all I remember Christian's smile, his contagious laugh and his amazing ability to enjoy life. Christian, I will be forever grateful for our time together and I thank you for giving me the most wonderful gift -my yellow lab Rio. John, Sherry, Beth and Justin - please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you and give you strength during this time of loss.

Christian was always there in times of need; the definition of a true friend. He had a zest for life that was contagious to those of us who were lucky enough to call him friend. His love of animals was inspiring. He was the glue that brought so many of us together. I will never forget you, and life won't be the same without you. I can only look forward to the day we meet again. Thank you, Christian, for the trips, the cookouts, the parties, the talks, the endless hours on the lake, the dogsitting, the fireworks, the generosity, and the love. I miss you already, my brother. Godspeed to your precious family.

I am so saddened and in disbelief by the loss of your son. He truly was an incredible soul with so much to teach us in not enough time. His magnetic personality drew people in at every level. He knew no strangers and I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to ever know this wonderful man. He lived life and treated his friends like every day was his last. He loved his family and talked about them often. I remember the first time I met him at his first house and pictures of his family covered his refrigerator......i thought to myself....what a great man. 7 years later I still feel the same.
I am so incredibly sorry and hope for strength and peace to fill your hearts in a time of overwhelming sadness and loss.

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of your incredible son. Christian was a joy and pleasure to be around. His magnetic personality attracted people at every level. He understood what life was about and was not afraid to live it. I am so thankful to have been blessed to know him and will miss him deeply. You are in my prayers. Buffy Veres

There are no right words to express the feelings that overcome you when something like this happens. None. It is simply a tragedy, an incredible loss for us all. Never in my life have I met another person that has touched me the way Christian has, on all levels. He was such a generous, honest man....so thoughtful and caring. He has been one of my closest friends for over 15 years. It is such a shame that someone so wonderful leaves us so early in life. I will always remember him as the greatest person I ever knew. I guess time heals, and we hold on to the beautiful memories we all shared with him to help ease us through the pain. John, Sherry, Beth and Justin, my heart goes out to you. I am so far away, but you all have each other, lean on each other as you move through the hardest time of your lives.....I hope to make it to Minnesota on Monday to see you all. Thinking of all of you, and always of Christian. We all loved him.

... I only have distant memories of Christian when he lived in Minnesota and was a friend to my sister. He remained a true friend, even after he moved on in life and moved away. Everything about Christian was real and pure. He was a good man and a good friend to my sister. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Elder family.

My son & I would like to express our deepest sympathies to the Elder family. We were stunned upon reading of his passing. We were at Chicagoland Speedway in 2001 for our first race together when Christian had his bad wreck in Busch qualifying. We think of him each time we go to the track or when we see the #38 car. We will keep you all in our prayers.God bless!

We were so stunned to hear of Christians passing. We had a small chosen family group here in Charlotte that came from Minneapolis origionally and Christian joined us occasionally for Easter or whenever his schedule allowed. We will miss him and send out out heartfelt grief to his family back home. He did share with me that he was a Christian and that comforts me and I hope it does you as well.

I had the privelege of training Christian's dog, Yukon. We spent many mornings at the kennel getting Christian and Yukon ready for upcoming hunt tests. You could always feel his passion when he was talking hunting, diving or his trips like the one to Paris to follow Lance. He was one of the most sincere and genuine people I have ever met, always with a smile and laugh to share. We will all miss him and his zest for lfe.

I still can't believe the news. Christian was a person to me who was larger than life. I was able to work with him during his racing career closely for a year when he switched to running road racing cars from NASCAR. To tell you the truth I felt pretty intimidated to work with someone who had been in NASCAR and thought perhaps I wasn't good enough for someone who had been to those elusive upper levels of motorsports. Those fears passed as we worked together to make the most of his season in World Challenge Touring Cars. We became friends, friends who trusted one another and he who trusted me with his life in the cars I prepared for him. While our time in that series was to fall short of what we wanted, I want it to be known it was a privelage and honor to work with him and something no matter how much time passes that can be taken away from me and I am better for it.

Christian was a great individual. I had the opportunity to get to know him when he first moved to NC. My favorite memory of him is one that took place at Bristol Speedway while Rabbit was spotting for him. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Elder family and Rabbit.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Elder family. I was a safety official at Elko Speedway when Christian started his racing career. I will never forget the sight of Christian flying down the straightaways with his long blonde ponytail trailing out behind him. He was a wonderful young man - he will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I shared many fun times (boat rides, movies, BBQ's) and good conversations with Christian. I will miss his contagious laugh and his friendship. He helped me move into three different apartments and I remember the time he stayed up all night with Lisa (Brandenburg-Hess) and I so that I would not miss my flight to Miami. My thoughts are with you all. I believe Christian is smiling at my remembrances. Erica Arnold-Wyche
