Philip Maillie Obituary

Philip Michael Maillie
Mr. Maillie, 68, of Cornelius, NC, went to join the heavenly choir of angels after an unexpected and sudden illness on March 20, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his Scottish-born parents, Elizabeth and Michael Maillie of West Chester, PA, his brother Andrew Maillie of Media, PA and his nephew Kevin Eadie, of Williamsburg, VA.
He has left behind many who will miss him dearly; his wife of 26 years, Jean Eadie Maillie; his children and their families, Dean and Loretta Maillie of West Farmington, ME, David and Melissa Maillie of Charlotte, NC, and Bob and Michelle McLaren of Owego, NY; and all of his grandchildren whom he adored, Tanner, Albert, Trent, Julie, Ellie, and Tyler. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, H. David and Rita Maillie of Rochester, NY and Noreen Maillie of West Grove, PA; his mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Virginia Eadie of Davidson, NC; brothers-in-law, David, Bob, and Scott Eadie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phil served for 5 years in the US military and the National Security Agency in Southeast Asia where he learned to speak fluent Japanese and gained an appreciation for sushi. He retired from IBM after 30 years of service which included various engineering and banking positions in Rochester, MN, Endicott, NY, Philadelphia, PA, and Charlotte, NC.
Throughout his life, Phil had a deep passion for music and singing which included playing lead roles in 'My Fair Lady' and 'South Pacific' in community theatre. More recently, he enticed the palates of many with his gourmet cooking. He fervently enjoyed fine woodworking, and above all else, he gloried in all of his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to either the Autism Society of America, in honor of his beloved grandson, Albert; or the APMRF (Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation) in loving memory of his nephew, Kevin Eadie.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 in the chapel of Raymer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Friday night at the funeral home.
