I, too, would like to thank Sid and Maureen for intitiating and maintaining this wonderful website. I am going to miss coming here from time to time to read all the wonderful memorials to a very special man. I think of Al so very often, and how much he will be missed. It's hard to believe he's been gone for a year now; a year in which we have lost many fine people. Al was one of the sweetest gentlemen I ever met, and always had that 'special' smile for everyone. I remember the last evening I spent with Al in Las Vegas, just a week before this tragic accident took him from us. We were sitting in the lounge of the Cannery after the big show, and he was sitting there facing me, enjoying the entertainment. He laughed and was having a wonderful time. I will have that loving picture in my mind forever; and that's the way I want to remember him. Sharing his 'special' presence with us and having a great time. Al, now you are 'Back in the Building' with Elvis and many more we have lost; & especially with your beloved, Bernice. You will never be forgotten dear friend.

Al Dvorin was a genuine friend. We were going to put together an Elvis questions and answer show with myself singing the Elvis songs. As I sang the demos for Elvis in the early years, we were going to bring back some of the magic of Elvis as a teenager when I knew him well and used to go to his house and when he dated my sister.
God bless Al. The world has missed a very good guy.

I am saddened to hear of al's passing ,Iam an Elvis tribute artist and al's voice to those who did not know him made people ask who the heck is that man and how did he get lucky and get that job, can only be truely understood,is to have met such a man as himself, and if you were fotunate enough to have met him, then you too would have seen what a king saw in him.....I too will mourn for a dear lost friend who was fortunate enough to have known both him and his voice he will be missed J.M.

It has taken me 3 weeks to collect my thoughts on what to write. I can find nothing to add to all the wonderful tributes which have already been written.
Al, you were a wonderful, kind, generous person who treated us all with respect. You shared your wonderful stories with us, and never looked at us with disdain for our interest. You were a pleasure to know, and you will be deeply missed.
Though I only had the honor of meeting you a few times, it took only that small amount to know what a truly wonderful person you were. Your love for Elvis was a pleasure to see and feel. I feel so blessed to have seen you in Vegas only 1 week before you left us.
All the blessings to your family, left with the suddenness of your passing. I know you are now back in the loving arms of your dear wife; and in the company of Elvis and the ones who passed before you.
I am praying for you, your family and will continue to do so. You will have a place in my heart forever.

I was shocked to learn of the death of Al Dvorin. I was watching the video: "Elvis: Remembering by his Friend, Joe" two days before his death. Near at the end of this video, it explained how Al got that position of announcing "Elvis has left the building..." No matter how long ago it was, I will always still hear his lovely voice saying "Elvis has left the building...." His voice should become a trademark and be used for that purpose where there is any Elvis events, etc. I knew that if I lose all of my hearing (I still have hearing left in my left ear, I am totally deaf in my right ear), I will always remember hearing this voice. I have met numerous famous people, in our travels, but never one who had the grace, ease, gentleness of Al. He threw love to everyone, like it was candy. To his grandson, who he spoke about frequently, you have had his love and your memories will carry you through your life. Al's stories were humorous, but told with tenderness and love.
