Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Galloway Methodist Church in downtown Jackson.
Stacy was born in West Point, MS, on Feb 11th, 1963. He graduated from Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL in 1983. His very successful and promising military career spanned the last twenty five years.
He joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in November 1982 as a ROTC Cadet from Marion Military Institute. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 1983 and continued to serve in Company C, 2/20th Special Forces Group (SFG) in Columbus, MS. Upon completion of a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama, Lieutenant Coleman attended the Infantry Officer Basic Course and the Special Forces Detachment Officer's Course.
He served as a Military Freefall Detachment Commander, Company Commander, and various staff positions to include: S-4 (logistics Officer); S3 (Operations Officer); and Battalion Executive Officer; with 2/20th SFG. From 1991 to 1995, he also served full-time as the Mississippi Army National Guard Operations Officer for Counterdrug Operations. He then served as the full-time Battalion Administrative Officer from May 1995 to August 2002. He was currently assigned to the 66th Troop Command as the Operations and Training Officer in September 2002. In May of 2004 he was assigned as the Battalion Commander of 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces and in September 2005 he was mobilized and deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom in the Global War on Terrorism. On 22 May 2007, he was assigned as the Deputy Commander of 66th Troop Command. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 24 May 2007.
Colonel Coleman was a Master Parachutist, a Military Freefall Jumpmaster, and had been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and parachutists' badges from the countries of Italy, Germany, Bolivia, and Honduras. He earned and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and numerous Federal and State awards. He was a graduate of the Spanish Language Course as well as the Command and General Staff College and was currently enrolled in the U.S. Army War College.
In addition to making a lifelong commitment to serving his country, Stacy lived his life to be the greatest Husband, Father, Son, and Friend to everyone who ever met him. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a member of Galloway Methodist church and was a passionate motorcycle rider and had recently become an instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, teaching others how to ride. He loved taking his family on camping trips and vacations. He never missed an opportunity to entertain his family and friends and was a consummate gourmet chef.
Stacy's family was the light of his life and he is survived by his wife, Lieutenant Colonel Deborah Walley Coleman and two young sons, Hunt, 9, and Matt, 6. In addition to his beautiful doting wife and boys, Stacy leaves behind his mother, Dot Dazet of Madison, his father and stepmother, David and Janice Coleman of Okolona, his sister, Emily Everett and her son, Jackson of Madison.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church, 305 North Congress Street, Jackson, MS 39201.

Deborah,
No words can express my sympathy for you and your family. Only one other event in my life has left me so sad and that was the death of Chris. Your husband, my commander, was a great person. He was my friend, my mentor and he was there to talk to me when I had questions about finances, the military, retirement and much more. Know that Christy and I are close and if you need anything we will be there. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Sean Klahn

Deborah, sons and family of Colonel Stacy Coleman: Not one word can express the deep sense of loss you must feel at this moment, as it is shared by the Colonel's Guard family and those friends and acquaintenances he gathered along his life's journey. Though it was a short journey, what blessings of love, wisdom, kindness and compassion he brought to so many, many lives in those short years. May you carry those treasures with you always in your heart. God Bless and Care for you Always.

To the Coleman Family, my sincerest condolences on your tragic loss. I never had the opportunity to meet "Coleman", but knew him through my nephew, LTC Scott Danner. He called me Wednesday from Germany to inform me of Stacy's untimely death. The country, the State of MS, and the family in particular has lost a true American Patriot and Hero.
