Burnell Newsome Obituary
Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2009, at Word and Worship, 6286 Hanging Moss Road in Jackson, MS. Collins Funeral Home, Inc. in Jackson is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Newsome; daughter, Tia Newsome; parents, Rev. Burnell Newsome, Sr. and Mrs. Gloria Newsome of Hazlehurst, MS; and one brother, Kenneth Newsome of Jackson, MS.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Brandon Newsome in January.

We know neither the time nor the hour; the entire Newsome family is in my thoughts, my prayers. May God give you the strength to know through him you can and must persevere. Burnell, you were one of my first mentors. From the time we were young, I aspired to carry myself with the grace, dignity, intellect and confidence you showed even as a teen. Thank you for being such an inspiration to your younger cousin. May the angels carry you far into the Lord's land.

I had to pleasure of working with Burnell and his wife. You both are truly nice people. My heart goes out to you and your family in this time of sorrow.
