George S. Kerwood

George S. Kerwood, 69, of Malta Avenue Ext., Malta, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Albany Medical Center, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Troy, the son of George and Bernice Kerwood, he lived most of his life in Saratoga County. He was a 1958 graduate of Stillwater High School and worked for 42 years as a conductor for the D&H (Canadian Pacific) Railroad. George's passion was his family, his garden - especially his tomatoes and sunflowers - bluebirds and fishing. He was a Master Gardener with Saratoga County Cooperative Extension and a member of the United Transportation Union and the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by his wife, Helene of Malta; son, Daniel Kerwood and wife, Jennie of Johnstown; daughters, Linda Yusaitis and husband, Francis of Clifton Park, Julie Kerwood and husband, Michael Dimin of Averill Park, and Lucia Spain of Galway; son, Kevin Kerwood of Saratoga Springs; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy, Emily, Brittany, Hunter, Melissa, Isabella and Thea; and two stepgrandchildren, Rebecca and Christopher; and sisters, Janice Tudor of Menands and Joyce Coonradt of Oregon. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa, with Father Thomas Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
