John E. Murray Prayers for John E. Murray, 80, of Tomball, Texas, formerly a longtime resident of Palatine, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 E. Anderson Drive, Palatine. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home. Born Sept. 29, 1926, in Oak Park, he died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in Tomball. Mr. Murray was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a longtime employee of Motorola and Zenith, living with his family in Japan and Taiwan for many years. John enjoyed fishing, travel and the many years he was able to spend with his grandchildren. A highlight of his travels was a trip to Ireland with many of his siblings. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Kelly; sons Michael (Debbie) Murray and William (Catherine) Murray; grandchildren, Sean (Michele), Shannon, Chad and Lauren Murray, and Ryan, Justin, Kathryn and Meaghan Kelly; great-granddaughter, Kaya Langworthy; brother, Donald (Barbara) Murray; sisters, Patricia (Gilbert) Pedicini and Rita Casserly; and many nieces and nephews.
