 Stuart Ransom Paddock Jr. of Rolling Meadows Prayers will be said for Stuart Ransom Paddock Jr., 86, at 9 a.m. Friday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Mass will follow at 10 a.m., at St. Colette Church, 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows. Born Sept. 19, 1915, in Palatine, he died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Moorings Healthcare Center, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in Randhill Park Cemetery. Mr. Paddock was publisher emeritus and former publisher and chairman of Paddock Publications. He was a World War II Army veteran. Stuart was a past president and director of the Illinois Press Association, past Illinois state chairman of the National Newspaper Association and held several board positions for the Suburban Newspaper section of the National Newspaper Association. Mr. Paddock was past president and current director for the Cook County Suburban Publishers Association, past director of the Printing Industry of Illinois, national chairman of the Newspaper Committee for a Free and Competitive Press, a member of the Pulitzer Prize Jury in 1970 and 1971, past director of the Countryside YMCA, and a member of the Business Advisory Council of the University of Illinois at Circle Campus, the Sigma Delta Chi Professional Journalists Society and the Headline Club of Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Ann M. (nee Burton), whom he married July 24, 1977 in Barrington; children, Lee (Richard) Dunkel, Jerre Dudley, Greta Vines, Deborah (William) Campbell, Rebecca (Richard) McLellan and Stuart R. III (Marlene) Paddock; stepchildren, John (Theresa) Rosengren, Mary Ann (Tom Dohnal) Armer, Susan (Philip) Koch and daughter-in-law, Gayle Rosengren; grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Michael, William, Matthew, Adam, Paul, Ryan, Heather, Richard, Samantha, Elizabeth A., John, Elizabeth C., Philip, Laurie, Peter, Megan, Melissa, Kristen, Juliette, Jennifer and Jeff; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Rachel and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Y. Paddock; his sister, Margie Paddock- Flanders; and stepson, Peter Rosengren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
