Walter Condon Obituary

WALTHAM Mr. Walter J. Condon, 94, of Waltham, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Meadowgreen Nursing Home in Waltham. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Edward and Emma (Arsenault) Condon, Walter was a die and tool maker for J.L. Thomson Company in Waltham for 14 years, before his retirement. Walter was a 50-year member of the Waltham Loyal Order of Moose, # 1018, and enjoyed gardening, bowling and was an avid sports fan. He was also a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. Walter was the brother of the late Edward Condon Jr., William Condon Sr. and Anna Keane. Walter leaves his beloved wife of 51 years, Veronica C. (MacDonald) Condon, and many nieces and nephews, including William Condon and his wife, Heidi, of Florida. The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. ( Rte. 20), Waltham, followed by a funeral Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., Waltham, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Wednesday, July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Walter was my grandfather's best man at his wedding, besides being his cousin. I remembered his mother as "Aunt Emma" when I was a boy. My sympathies to all of the family.
