Robert Thomas Ward

Robert Thomas "Bob" Ward of Crozet, Virginia, died Friday, August 8, 2008, at a local hospital, he was 86.

Born the son of the late James W. and Bertha V. Maupin Ward on June 5, 1922, in Albemarle County, he served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He was a Master Carpenter for the University of Virginia for 20 years and will be long remembered for his wood-working abilities in making fine Shaker and traditional furniture.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Marian Ward and one son, Eugene H. Ward.

He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Ann Barnette of Crozet, Virginia; two sons, Robert "Bobby" Ward of Crozet, Virginia and John F. Ward of Mt. Holly, New Jersey; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held at the home of D. L. Hale Jr., Locust Lane, Crozet, Virginia, 3 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008. A private family burial will occur earlier that day.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, Post Office Box 188, Crozet, VA 22932.
