Charlie Strother Obituary
Charlie Strother, 91, of Orange, Virginia, passed away Monday evening, August 18, 2008, at his home.
He was born September 15, 1916, in Madison County, Virginia, to the late Frank and Alimira Barbour Strother.
Mr. Strother was a former employee of the C. R. Butler Building Supply of Orange and Hardwell Construction Com-pany of Orange, Virginia.
Mr. Strother was preceded In death by his wife, Mrs. Louise Frances Strother.
He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Mary Lee Carpenter (Shelton) of Madison, Miss Annie Strother of Gordonsville, Miss Geraldine Strother of Orange, Miss Frances Elizabeth Strother of Ruckersville, Ms. Helen Frances Clark of Stafford and Miss Cora Ella Stother of Orange; five sons, Benjamin Strother and Shirley of Charlottesville, Ross D. Strother of Warrenton, Minister William Strother of Madison, Ralph Kenneth Strother of Charlottesville and George Strother and Shirley of Orange.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Oak Park With pastor Perry P. Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Strother family cemetery in Etlan, Virginia.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the funeral home. The body will lie state at the church from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday, August 22, 2008.
Satchell's Funeral Service of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
