Mr. Richard Marshall "Buddy" Justus, 69 of Farmville passed away Friday in Farmville. He was born April 16, 1940 in Sevier County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Hubert M. and Edna Hicks Justus. He was a retired DOC Sgt. at PRCC. His life long love was building cabinets and fishing. He was the husband of Phyllis Justus for nearly 50 years.

He is survived by his wife; his sister, Kathleen "Cotton" Barr; his sons, Richard S. Justus (Ricky) and wife, Becky of South Hill, Kevin C. Justus and wife, Laura of Prospect and Darin E. Justus of Farmville; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Everett, Jacob and Tiffany Justus, his step grandchildren, Nicholas Segura and Anthony Caliguri; his four step great grandchildren; his niece, Darlene Morgan; and special extended family, Renee Smith and Ann Eriksen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Robert Gary Barr. The family would like to express their thanks to all the special friends and family for everything they have done to help.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 31, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice. The Reverend Terry Tolliver will be officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday evening 6 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph Fire Department or to Prince Edward County Rescue Squad. Puckett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
