Abraham Ree Miller Jr.

Abraham Ree Miller Jr., formerly of Burke, departed this life Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at his residence, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was born in New York City, the son of the late Abraham Ree Miller Sr. and Agnes Banks Miller. He was the husband of Doris Burton Miller.

He was educated in the New York School System and graduated from Technological School in Brooklyn, New York. "Ree" as he was affectionately known, was a media engineer for the Voice of America; a licensed gun dealer, avid hunter and gun collector. He was a member of the Shriners' Organization for over 40 years. He was a loving husband, brother, nephew and uncle.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years, Doris Burton Miller; one brother, Tommy Banks and his wife, Daisy, of Charlottesville; three sisters, Joyce M. Garlow of Austin, Texas, Rosa Burks, and Agnes B. Hurghes and her husband, John, of Charlottesville; a sister-in-law, Betty Banks of Dale City; one aunt, Margaret Miller of Long Island, New York; nephews, Michael Garlow, Martin V. Burks III, Billy Banks, Troy Hughes, Brian Banks and Charles Burton Jr.; nieces, Patricia Brice, Tomasine Tinsley, Rhonda Hughes, Brina Banks and Wendy Pittman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Otis Spellman officiating.

Doris, I was so sad to hear about Ree. You know, I always remember the time you and him came home to visit and when me and Charlie had returned from town the whole bowl of potato salad was gone. That was so funny to me and Charlie. Charlie also thought the world of Ree.

I will always keep you in my heart.
