Laurence C. Spivey

Laurence "Larry" C. Spivey, 53, of Charlottesville, died Saturday, September 5, 2009.

Born in Portsmouth, May 9, 1956, he was the son of the Reverend Charles B. Spivey Jr. and Peggy Queen Spivey of Charlottesville.

Larry was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and had worked for many years with Comdial. He had been a loyal and dedicated employee of Teague Funeral Service prior to his retirement. Larry embraced leadership in the Boy Scouts, and was recognized for his work with the Vigil Honor of Scouting's Order of the Arrow, Tutelo Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pamela "Pam" H. Spivey; two daughters, Jessica C. Spivey and Kathryn M. Spivey; one brother, Mike Spivey and his wife, Liz; three nieces, Sarah Davis, Lauren Spivey and Julia Spivey; his in-laws, Don and Pat Hammond; and special friends, Craig and Peggy Pickering; and his faithful canine companion, "Bandit".

A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the church prior to the service.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Blue Ridge Mountains Council, Boy Scouts of America or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

I remember Larry most from the time we spent together on the Comdial quality team. He is in my thoughts and prayers.

Larry seemed to always have a smile on his face. Larry and I worked for years at Comdial (Technical Support). I was always willing to give a helping hand. He will be missed!

Never met Larry face to face but he was one of the best in the old Comdial system. Had many phone conversations with him and he was a true asset to have on your side when you needed help. Rest in peace.

Larry was a wonderful man in many ways. His technical expertise while with Comdial Tech Support was unparalled. We had some fun the couple times he come to Dallas assisting to resolve Field Trial issues. I'll see ya again when I get there Spivey. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.
