Lawrence Edward Chandler

Lawrence Edward Chandler, 66, of Madison Mills, departed this life on September 9, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

He was born February 4, 1943, in Culpeper County, to the late Gillis L. and Gladys Morton Chandler Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Walker Chandler.

Mr. Chandler was employed by American Wood Mart Corporation prior to his retirement.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jeanne of Orange and Barbara of Gordonsville; three sisters, Elnor Tonge and her husband William, Irene Walker, both of Rapidan, and Celia A. Hanks and her husband, Melvin, of Henderson, North Carolina; four brothers, Gillis Jr. and his wife, Rosa, Melvin and his wife, Doretha, all of Rapidan, Jerry, and his wife, Ruth, of Unionville, and Carl and his wife, Yolanda of Orange; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Rapidan, with Reverend Clarence Birch officiating. Interment will follow at the Walker Family Cemetery, Rapidan.

Satchell's Funeral Service, Inc. of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
