William D. Jarrell

William Delmar Jarrell, 67, of Earlysville, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born October 6, 1941, a son of the late Wade D. and Ruth McDaniel Jarrell. He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Marks; and a niece, Lisa Jarrell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Davis Jarrell; one brother, Carl Jarrell and his wife, Darlene, of Palmyra; two sisters, Dorothy J. Shiflett and her husband, Gene, of Earlysville and Corrie Lee Breeden and her husband, Everette, of Palmyra; mother-in-law, Nellie Davis; three brothers-in-law, J.P. Davis and his wife, Diana, and Charles Davis and his wife, Debi, all of Free Union, and Bobby Marks; five sisters-in-law, Ida Defibaugh and her husband, Jerry, Ruby Kennedy and her husband, Tom, of Free Union, Sally Howard and her husband, Brad, of Earlysville, Sue Cassell and her husband, Larry, of Palmyra, and Mary Huffman and her husband, Kenny, of Crimora; and many nieces and nephews.

Delmar served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was employed by the Ford Dealership for 45 years and with Albemarle Backhoe Service for four and one half years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR racing. He was always eager and available to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He will be missed by many people.

Special thanks from the family to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Albemarle County Police Department.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home with the Reverend J. David Allison officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at the funeral home.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.He worked with my dad Joe Clemmer over 40 years at ford and with me 15 at ford. He was always happy and had a smile for everyone.Whenever i gave him the wrong part "lots" he would laugh shake his head and say "TRY AGAIN" Lil JOE. Delmo as we called him will be greatly missed by everyone.
