Mike will always be one of my best friends. He brought a lot of joy to my life, helped me in many ways, and taught me many important things. The two of us shared many, many precious times together over the past 29 years. During the too few years he lived, he enjoyed a more profound and simple way of living that many never find. Those in trouble often found him there to offer help. Good people everywhere loved him. Happy people sought his company. Grieve not for Mike. The Pearly Gates are flung wide with banners of welcome to receive this wonderful fellow with wide-opened arms. How lucky they will be to have his company.

So many stories of Green Springs and Gordonsville revolve around Mike. And every story brings a smile or laughter. Being a local legend is a big task, and Mike had the heart and imagination to back him up. My thoughts and prayers are with Patty and all of Mike's folks.

I was Mikes neighbor, and can always remember driving by and seeing him in the garden or tinkering with his "toys". He seemed to always have a smile on his face and a way to bring a laugh out of you no matter how your day was going. We will surely miss him. It just wont be the same driving by and not seeing him standing in the garden arms as high as can be, waving just to say hello. A man so kind could never be forgotten. God Bless, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mike was our neighbor and we so enjoyed getting to visit with him. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for us. I will miss driving by and waving at him or stoping by to chat while he worked in the garden. God bless and keep you Mike.

To even begin with all the attributes of Mike is difficult, he had such a kind, gentle soul, a laugh that just came naturally and an honesty rarely found these days. He had the spirit to live off of what God provides us and was a true "Southern Boy". May you find the comfort you so much deserve Mike-I feel privileged to have grown up knowing you and called you a friend.
