ANTONETTA NERONE
AGE: 92 LONG VALLEY
Antonetta Nerone, 92, of Long Valley, Washington Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington after a long illness. She was born on Feb. 12, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Angelo Perrotta and the late Emilia Segreto. She grew up in Haledon, NJ, lived for 35 years in Moonachie, NJ, and lived in Long Valley since 1982. She retired after working for over 20 years as a seamstress for Barbizon in Paterson, NJ. Mrs. Nerone won 1st prize for her peanut brittle in New Jersey for the New Jersey State Women's Club. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain R.C. Church and its rosary Altar Society. Mrs. Nerone was an accomplished artist and decorator for her late husband, Benjamin, who owned Nerone Nursery in Moonachie for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Nerone, who died on May 7, 2000; and her sister, Julia Piccininno. She is survived by her son, Benjamin and his wife Jill Nerone of Orinda, CA; her daughters, Margaret and her husband Thomas Sanders of Independence Twp., Bernadette Di Paolo of Long Valley, whose husband, Joseph, died Jan. 22, 2003; her
sister, Theresa Dittamo of Haledon; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Father Mark Olenowski. Interment in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ. Arrangements by the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High St., Hackettstown, NJ. 908-852-2420. Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 3-7 p.m.
