We just learned of Deanna's passing and we are shocked. She was a wonderful person, and the world is surely poorer for her absence. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Ed, and your children in this difficult time. It is often said but bears repeating: please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help you and your family.

Dear Ed:
I hope you do not find this poem to be harsh (I did the first time it was sent to me).

You have lost your soulmate and I, too, lost mine last year. The devastation is indescribable.

Please know your beautiful Deanna, soulmate, lover and friend is "waiting just around the corner for you".

You are so very much in my thoughts right now.

I hope, somehow, someday, many months down the long road ahead of you, that you find comfort in this:

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you

Whatever we were to each other

That we are still

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way you always used

Put no difference into your tone

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

Laugh as we always laughed

At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

Let it be spoken without effort

Without the ghost of a shadow in it

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolute unbroken continuity

What is death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you for an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost

One brief moment and all will be as it was before

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

I met Deanna on Sept. 13, 2008 while she, her wonderful family and neighbors participated in the Clifton Mill's PurpleStride 5K Memorial Walk. The event was for my father, who died of this terrible disease earlier this year. Deanna was amazing that day - her warmth and humor, her determination to finish the walk. She touched so many lives in that one day and I am honored to have met her. We are so truly sorry for your loss.

I grew up with the Brandons and have many fond memories of spending time with them playing sports in the yard or having many laughs in the kitchen. This is a very loving and caring family and our hearts go out to them. Deanna was always so full of energy and charisma and we were all blessed to know her.

Lora & Family,
I can only imagine how heavy your hearts are ... I will pray for it to get lighter. Your new guardian angel will help you lift your sadness, because Mary is taking care of her now. The "head mom" is a good lady ... she won't let you down.
Wishing you peace and comfort with lots of love,
Sally, Scott, and boys

Dear Family of Deanna,
I am so sorry for your loss. I met Deanna a few times during her OSU years through my sister Barb Kren. She had a zest for life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Sounds like she accomplished so much in her short time here with us. I am praying that God gives you strength during such a sad time and that the happy memories of Deanna will carry you through. She is unforgettable!

Even though my visits with Deanna were few, her warmth and lovely aura was obvious during our few times together. I am so grateful for the time that she took from her busy schedule to visit with my Mom, which demonstated her love and concern for others. Each of you should continue to find strength in your roots and where you belong in this life. Always know that you are connected to family in West Virginia who love and care for you. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with each of you.
