News Death Notice
REED, Donald W. age 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Kettering formerly of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully November 6, 2009 surrounded by his loving wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School in Columbus, OH. He received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from The Ohio State University in 1952. He served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and retired from NCR Corporation in 1992 after 25 years. He was a long time member and Elder at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gladys Reed and brothers, Robert and Charles Reed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo (Flaker); son and daughter - in -law, Tom and Stephanie Reed of Columbus; daughters and son - in - laws, Myra and John Jackson of Beavercreek and Linda and Jim Morford of Cleveland; grandchildren, Mark (Chrissy) Jackson, Jenna Jackson, Dan Reed, Laura Reed, Megan Morford, Katie Morford, as well as many family members and friends. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church, 3377 Shakertown Rd, at 11 am. Followed by interment at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. The Reed family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2009 from 5 pm until 8 pm at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton - Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd.
