News Death Notice

SMITH, Anna R. 60 years, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her residence. She was born November 9, 1949, at Clay Hole, KY, the daughter of the late Bedford and Norma (Whitaker) Combs. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Stanley Combs and her mother-in-law, Carlene Woods. She was the devoted wife of David Smith and the beloved mother of Denise (Mark) Scheck of Lodi, OH, Aimee (Joel) Eckstine of Seville, OH, and Tina (Jon) Gerow, of Phoenix, AZ. Other survivors include Brother-in-law Randy Woods of Hillsboro, sisters Norma Grice of Greenville, OH, Wilma (Ray) Liles, of Beaver Creek, OH, Grace (David) Burger, of Medina, OH, Rhonda (Rick) Lowry of Florida, six grandchildren; Samantha Ann and Leah Ferrell, Darian Keller, Ashley, Alexis and Lucie Eckstine, and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was a retired Registered Nurse, a graduate of Lorraine Community College and a REIKI master. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was an avid photographer. Friends may call from 5:00 till 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Zedda Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery.
