Neil Alhart Obituary
Caledonia: On July 5, 2008, at age 73. Predeceased by his parents, Mae and Roy Alhart. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen; son, Peter (Margaret); daughters, Anne (John) Austin, Elizabeth, Eileen, Maureen Alhart; Julie (Daryl) Wolf; grandchildren, Nicole Austin and Kaitlin and Kyle Alhart, Carl, Mitchell and Brian Wolf; sister, Mary (Robert) Oelwang; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Neil was raised on his grandfather's farm in Webster. He graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1953, and went on to graduate from Simmons School of Mortuary Science, and became a funeral director. He moved to Caledonia in 1960 and established Alhart Funeral Home, which he operated until 1994, and remained active in the funeral business after his retirement. He also owned and operated The Furniture House in Avon until 1983. He was active in the Caledonia-Mumford communities. Caledonia is where he lived, worked and raised his family, and was glad to call it his home.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11 AM at St. Columba Church, North St., Caledonia. Interment private, at St. Columba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General Hospital, 1425 Portland Ave., Rochester, NY 14621, or MacKay Wildlife Preserve, 3095 Main St., Caledonia, NY 14423.

Dear Alhart family,
When I think about Caledonia-Mumford, I can't help but think of Mr. Alhart and the funeral home. It is a wonderful and comforting memory. Your family has always been a pillar in the community. Mr. Alhart will be very much missed. I am so sorry for your loss!
