Peter Talbot Obituary

Talbot, Peter G.
Rochester: January 29, 1943-July 10, 2008. LAST CALL: I cashed in my chips in the great poker game of life. I went "ALL IN" on July 10, 2008. I dealt with a short and somewhat courageous battle with emphysema. Please, one and all quit smoking!!! I also had a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. Please, one and all quit smoking!!!
It goes without saying I had a long and extremely courageous battle with life itself. I'm not going to say quit smoking for this one …but it would help. During my lifetime I came to many "Y's" in the road and those of you that know me know that I didn't always take the most logical route. Be that as it may, I must admit, I most certainly enjoyed my life, my family and my friends. I was hardly ever short of fun.
I grew up on a dairy farm in West Edmeston, NY. That was a wonderful place to grow up. I went all through school in Edmeston. In my adult life I moved to Florida once and to Arizona twice (once for what I thought would be the rest of my life). But here I am back in Rochester. Go figure! I joined the US Air Force from 1962-1966. I also had many wonderful careers some of which are bartending in over 50 bars, postal employee, hot dog vendor, and numerous others. I met many wonderful friends along the way. I've made some mistakes in my life. The biggest was losing JLB. I never stopped loving you JLB!!!
I'm predeceased by my dad, G. Edward Talbot, who was a dairy farmer and a great man. I'm leaving behind my mom, Kathryn. In addition I'm leaving behind my sister, Barbara Carol Havens (Donald), nephew Terence (Christina), their two children, Andrew and Rebekah, nephew Jayme, nephew Andrew (Constance), their sons Josh and Brandon.
I am also leaving behind so many wonderful friends both from my four years in the United States Air Force and my 40 plus years in Rochester, NY. Thank you everyone for the great memories.
There will be a church service July 26, 2008 at W. Edmeston Baptist Church, W. Edmeston, NY (approximately 25 miles South of Utica on Route # 8) at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Food Link 936 Exchange Blvd. 14608.
Cheers, Peter G. Talbot

Pete:
You touched my life and my heart from the moment I met you. You left a everlasting impression on me. From now on I live my life differently as I enjoy each moment and try to impact as many people as I can. As they say It truly is about how we spend our Dash! In the end I hope that when people come to my funeral they are saying things such as she fed me when I was hungry, held out a hand ect instead of saying "Oh she had a beautiful house, nice care and a wonderful garden. It is all about how we spend our dash and your dash said so much as you can tell from the postings how many people you touched in your life.

By the way "you look so handsome in that hat!"
I will truly miss you Pete.

May God bless you Pete Talbot, and watch over your family and friends. Though we didn’t know each other real well due to our age differences back in school at Edmeston, you never hesitated to be friendly and kind when ever we made contact. I loved watching you play high school basketball, as you were the master of the “swish”. (nothing but net… you West Ed boys were always playing basketball…….)
I think it was back in 1967, I was looking for a ride to Rochester to get back to college. You were in Edmeston that particular weekend with your motorcycle. You didn’t hesitate to offer me a ride to Rochester, but told me I’d have to “pack light” due to lack of storage space on your bike. I’ll never forget that kind gesture on your part.
It’s obvious Pete, that you touched many people’s hearts during your lifetime. How GREAT is that?
May you rest in peace……

Uncle Pete,
I will miss you terribly. I know we didn't have much time together to get to know each other through the years but I felt like I knew you just from dad's stories. You were there for me when dad died and that means more to me than you will ever know. You're in good hands now. Heaven watch out John, Dick and Pete are together again! You once appologized for not being a good godfather but to me you were the best, and I know you are watching out for me now right next to dad. Love you and miss you. Till we meet again.
Love your god-daughter,
Johanna

Peter,

I don't really want to be writing this ... I have so many great memories (I think I met you in 1967 when you were still working for Neisners). You, Mary Kay and I continued our special friendship by laughing and crying many times over the years (especially this past six months).

Goodbye to one of my dearest friends.

Love,

Carey

Peter G. I miss you and will always remember your courage these past 15 months. Life is strange and you shouldn't have had to suffer like you did, as I watched you fight daily with your health issues till there was no fight left. You outplayed all there predictions on the time line left. When I was introduced to you back in the early 70's, my buddy told me you we're the best bartender in rochester and I watched you take command of the bar and work it like Nick Tahou worked the grill...too perfection. We rocked & rolled and made that trip to Florida a memory for the archives. Ah yes, memories of so many fun times will be forever with me. My wife and mom loved you as I did too. God bless you, brother. Rest in Peace !

Peter Dear, I will miss you terribly, but I know that Heaven is now a much better place with you in it. You had a gift of making people laugh and feel better about themselves. They would forget their cares and worries when they were with you. I will never forget your impish, Leprachaun-like smile. I enjoyed those years working with you and knowing you immensely. You made my life more full and fun as I am sure you did with everyone who knew you. I've enjoyed our talks over the last few months. Your courage this past year has amazed me. You are my Hero.

Sorry for your loss.
I didn't know Mr. Talbot but was touched by his Obituary. As a mother of 5 grown children, it must be unbearable for his mom. This will be an obituary that will be printed off and given to each one of my kids.
Peter's heart felt truth about his life I believe will Impact many Lives. I know that it has impacted mine. May you feel Gods loving arms imbrace all of you through this time of sorrow and feel Gods presence. God truely gives us a free will, many just don't believe that their choices affect anyone but themselves. Mom I'm so sorry for your great loss!
