Pearl Kissel Obituary

Kissel, Pearl
Sarasota, FL: Pearl Kissel, tenacious and vibrant survivor of a heart transplant, several near death experiences, and the loss of two children on separate occasions - died early in the morning on 19 July at her Sarasota home. She was 71 and is survived by her husband of 47 years Stanley, and her son, Neal, and her grandson Eli.
Born in Brooklyn NY on 12 December 1936, she attended NYU and Brooklyn Collage and received a Masters degree from Nazareth in education. She taught in the Brighton and then Pittsford School system as a learning disabilities specialist for 18 years.
Pearl was married to Stanley Kissel, who was Chief Psychologist at the Children's Division of the Rochester Mental Health Clinic. Together they were affectionately known to their friends as the "Pearl and Stan show" due to the fact that he was blind and she had severe hearing loss. They lived together as care giver and care taker.
She will be remembered for her spunk, love of life and emotional strength.
Memorial Services will be held at Temple Sinai in Sarasota, Florida on Monday 21 July at 1:30 in the afternoon. A burial service will take place in Tisbury, Massachusetts on Wednesday 22 July, on the Island of Martha's Vineyard.
