Alexander Ferrini Obituary

Ferrini, Jr., Alexander F.
Brighton: April 28, 1940-July 20, 2008. Alexander Fausto Ferrini, Jr., died suddenly in Rochester, NY. Predeceased by his sisters and brother, Anna Dorn, Viola Ferrini and Lou Ferrini. He is survived by his wife, Karen Ferrini; children, Kristen (Derek) Turrietta, Alexander (Carla Westcott) Ferrini, III; brother, Fermo Ferrini; sister, Jeanne Theriault; grandchildren, Elisa and Anna Turrietta, Alexander and Adeliza Ferrini; many nieces, nephews, cousins; friends too numerous to mention. Born of modest means in Geneva, NY to Italian immigrant Alexander F. Ferrini and Mary DeJohn Ferrini, Al graduated from Geneva High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Korea after the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged. After surviving a brain abscess, Al began working as a manufacturer's representative. Hardworking, disciplined, energetic, and with rare charisma, he soon co-founded Ferrini-Konarski Associates, Inc. From home offices Al and his partner John grew their firm to great success, with offices in Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany. Al and John, maintained their prosperous partnership for over twenty-five years. Al's life exemplified the American dream. He had a mastery of the building trades and built many houses in New York and Virginia. Al also possessed a strong intellect and Jeffersonian curiosity evidenced by daily non-fiction reading on varied subjects. He loved to learn, and explored sewing, music, dancing, gardening, cooking and flying. Al was looking forward to his 50th high school reunion. He loved to participate in every kind of social gathering and spared no expense when entertaining. He particularly adored his four grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papa." His interests also included bicycling, trains, and daily fitness. With a close friend, Al completed both East-West and North-South bicycle trips across the United States. More than anything else, he valued loyalty. An independent man, Al died at his office after a lifetime of doing what he wanted on his own terms.
Friends may call Wednesday, 3-7 pm at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, 10 am at Zion Episcopal Church, 120 East Main St., Palmyra, 14522. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Dear Karen,

We were so surprised and saddened by the loss of Al. I was just talking last week with my wife that I'd like to call our former landlord, and I did so Tuesday this week - but too late. Richelle and I have fond memories of the time we shared with you and Al at the Korean restaurant after our wedding. Al was a real inspiration for fitness dynamo. I remember his saying, "I'm an 18 year old trapped in a 67 year old body!" We're sorry for his loss, and remember his warmth, friendliness, vigor, generosity, and sincere interest in the well-being of others. So sorry we didn't get another chance to eat together. May God comfort you and your family in this hour.

I was saddened to learn of Al's sudden passing. He was a special man. I had the opportunity to work with Al and his agency when I was responsible for managing Lutron's Northeast Area.

I admired Al's honesty, wit, and commitment to the people he worked with. I always enjoyed talking to him, and learning about his next bike adventure, and his love of keeping fit.

In April of 2002, after a serious medical challenge of my own, Al surprised me by traveling from Upstate New York, to Allentown Pennsylvania, to visit me in the hospital, and offer words of encouragement about my future.

I appreciated Al's friendship, and offer my sincere condolences to his family.

Hello Mrs. Ferrini and Family,
I did not know Al very well, but I would always see him at the RIT gym working out and we would always say hi to each other. It was of great surprise to find out that he had passed. In the gym he was a dynamo always moving and making you feel bad for not working as hard. His presence will be missed.

Dear Aunt Karen and family:
I just read the Finger Lakes Times and learned about Uncle Al. I am sorry for your loss. I will always have very fond memories of him and I will never forget the fun times we had with your family when we were growing up in Geneva. I am also sorry that I have lost contact with Alex and Kristin. They probably will not even remember me or my two sisters. Please use my email as I would love to hear from you and send you an update on my mother and sisters.

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of one of the "Good Guys" in the industry. Knowing Al since 1991, I'm a better person for it. Al's fondness of Calvin and Hobbes inspired my son, Will, to send Al the drawing which hung in his office. A sweet reminder of Al's kind and gentile nature.
