Andrij Iwasiw Obituary
Irondequoit: Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 73. Andrij was born July 17, 1935 in Buchach, Ukraine. At a young age, he had made the voyage to America with his family. After his early years living in Philadelphia, Andrij moved to Rochester, New York where he then lived much of his life. In keeping touch with his friends from Buchach, Andrij frequented the Toledo/Detroit area quite often, where he met his wife, Ann (Welgan). He is survived by two children, Michael (Tamara) and John (Shawn); and two grandchildren, Stefan and Danylo. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Anna Martyniuk; and brother, Michael.
Andrij was a devoted husband who loved his family and cherished his grandsons. He was a faithful member of the Ukrainian Church of the Epiphany and the Ukrainian Home of Rochester. He received honorable discharge from the United States Army. He worked at Xerox for over 30 years and retired in 1999. He will be missed by all who knew him.
His family will receive friends Thursday 2-4, 7-9pm at the funeral home. (Panachyda 7:30pm). Friends are invited to meet the family Friday 10am at Ukrainian Catholic Church of Epiphany for his Divine Liturgy. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In memory of Andrij, memorials may be directed to Ukrainian Home of Rochester, 1040 Jackson Rd., Webster, NY 14580.

Dear Iwasiw family,
I send deepest sympathies for your great loss. I am so sorry I was unable to attend Vujko Andrij funeral. I absolutely adored him. I am so fortunate that he was my Godfather. He has always been kind to me, and he had a wonderful way of making me laugh and feel special. I will cherish my memories.
Having lost my own mother some time ago, I wish I could say things will get easier, but it is difficult when a piece of your heart has been taken.
We are all blessed that Andrij shared his life with us.
