Arthur Houser Obituary
Greece: Peacefully passed on July 26, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife, Margot; and is survived by his children, Gitta (Gary) Wombwell, Michael (Cheryl), David (Maryann) Houser, Sheila Osbourne and Vincent Mancuso, Mark Houser and Martha Sholl; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and close friend, Freddi Madek. Arthur was the past President of IATSE Local 25 and retired Rochester City School Administrator.
He has requested no visitation. Has donated body to U of R. There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, August 2nd at 4 PM at 4047 Bennetts Corners Road, Holley, NY, for family and friends. For directions please call 585-638-5643.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Art's family. We met Art many years ago at an RMS convention and have enjoyed his friendship ever since. We will miss him and know he is with other matchcover collecting friends.

I'm sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I have fond memories working with your dad. Now I'm the older guy working with all the young (think they know everything) guys. Boy, how did Art ever put up with us.

JoAnn and I are saddened to hear of your dad's passing. I have many fond and funny memories of him while we worked together for Local 25. Most of all I will remember him as a loyal union brother and friend. Our best to the rest of the family.

A friend, a mentor, a room mate and so much more. My time spent with Art is something that I will always cherish. My deepest sympathies go to his family and his friends. I know how much you meant to him as he talked often about you and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchidren.
In reading the guest book it gives me great pleasure to know so many of his match collector friends not only took time to sign Art's guest book but also had so many nice things to say about him. I will really miss him. May he rest in peace.

My wife and I are sorry to hear the latest news about Art. We were glad that he was able to join us for the Southern Swapfest this past March - he seemed very happy to be with his matchcover friends. Our condolences go out to the family - we will miss Art at future swapfests.

Our most sincere sympathy to Art's family on their loss. Irene introduced Art to the matchcover hobby back in the 80's in Cleveland and he remained a close friend from that time on.

Grandpa, this past year we have been eachothers rocks. I can never tell you how much i love you or how much i will miss you. You were the father figure for Brendan and I know he will never forget you. Im so glad we got to spend the time together that we did. You and grandma will always be my second parents. I LOVE YOU!

Another worthy citizen passes on.
I knew Art from the matchbook hobby, but he certainly had other diverse interests and passions.

Art was one of best friends in the US we had long chats about music and theatre while at conventions he was just great to be with, I shall miss ART.

Those of us in the matchcover hobby will miss Art. I've enjoyed my friendship with Art over the years. He had been generous with his time and knowledge. It was good to see him one last time in March and to talk to him just a few weeks ago. My condolences to all of his family.

I will miss you so very much, Grandpa. And wherever you may be, I'm hoping that in spirit you are going to root for those Red Sox as every time I watch them, I will be thinking of you. I'm so glad that I got to see you in May and got to speak with you on the phone during your last days with us. You were a stubborn old goat, but I think that's why we had that bond that we did. Mr. Houser was my 6th grade teacher at #30 back in the 60's.How often through the years i have thought about him.
I think i'm still getting the eraser chaulk off of the back of my head.
He was a great teacher and a wonderful man!.God bless his family at this sad time.
