Solomon Baker Obituary
Brighton: July 30, 2008 with his family arround him. Survived by loving wife of 58 years, Ruth; sons, Irwin and Stuart (Molly) Baker; "Papu" to Robert Solomon, Rory and Caitlin; brother, Carl Baker; brothers-in-law, Jerry Belz of Toronto and Jules Stern of Detroit; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Sabety & Estraia Baker; brothers, Jack and Phil; sisters, Dora Levy and Sara Cassorla; nephew, Jack Levy. Sol was a WWII Veteran and the owner of Monarch Mufflers, Inc. With special thanks to Drs. Paul Fine & Henry Richter and staff and the comfort & care provided by Visiting Nurse Service-Hospice.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 2 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel Inc. (3325 Winton Road S.). Interment, Britton Road Cemetery. Following the funeral, a period of mourning will be observed at 15 Crandon Way, Sunday & Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Tuesday 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ARC Foundation of Monroe County or a charity of one's choice. To email a message of condolence, please visit Sol's guestbook at:

Dear Aunt Ruth, Stewart, Irwin, Molly & kids,
The entire family is feeling such a great sense of loss with Uncle Sol's passing. So many great memories will continue forever of our kindest and most beloved uncle.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and very sorry to be unable to attend tomorrow's funeral in Rochester.
It was good that you were with him at home.
We said kaddish for Uncle Sol last night.

I remember vividly, playing basketball in the driveway after school in the late afternoons and Sol driving into his spot on the round driveway in his Mustang. He had his Monarch shirt on that had been soiled with the days work and a few cigars in his front pocket. Sometimes he would take a few shots with us, but mostly a friendly greeting and into the house to get comfortable and ready for dinner. Those were the good ole days of the early 70's. Life was simple and complete--we'll miss you Sol.--Jim Costanza
