Ameele, Edwin W. "Spike"
Williamson: Former Supervisor of the Town of Williamson. Died Friday, August 8th at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus. He was born June 5, 1911 in East Williamson. He graduated from Sodus High School and Rochester School of Commerce. He traveled through much of western New York for many years as a fertilizer salesman for the F.S. Royster Co.. He also worked many years for the Wayne County Growers and Processors finding labor to work on local farms and in the plants of Food Processors, and served on their Board of Directors. During WWII helped establish several POW camps in Wayne County. After the war, he supervised camps that were retained in Marion, Lyons, and Williamson to house migrant and contract laborers. He served multiple terms as an Assessor and two terms as Supervisor of the Town of Williamson. He was a member of the Orphix Fraternity of Williamson and member of the Pultneyville Masonic Lodge F & AM. He was a past member of the East Williamson Fire Department. Spike was married to Irene Bruno for 66 years until her death in 2004. Surviving are sister, Lillian Charles of Rochester; sons, Reginald (Betsy) of Baldwinsville, Robert (Middy) of Coto de Caza, CA, and Randall (Chris) of Glastonbury, CT; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call Monday, August 11th from 6-8 PM at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St., Williamson where a Celebration of His Life will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM. Private Interment Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be directed in his memory to East Williamson Fire Department, PO Box 191, East Williamson, NY 14449.
