Wagorn, Dorothy Jeanne
Sodus Point, NY: Age 67, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2008 at her home in San Jacinto, CA. after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Tommy; and her adored sons, Sheldon (To Chuong) of Redondo Beach, CA., Heath (Lyn) of Hemet, CA.; and her precious grandchildren, Heather, Dylana and Morgan; also survived by sister, Joanne Nersinger of Ontario, NY; brothers, John Abel of Brooksville, FL., Joey Abel of Fort Lauderdale, FL. and Jamie (Pat) Abel of Sodus Point, NY. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry Abel. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, David Wagorn of Victor, NY; sisters-in-law, Diane (Bill) Lindsay of Jacksonville, FL., Carol (Dick) Ramble of Hilton, NY and Pat Pulver of Rochester, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy Jeanne was born and raised in Wayne County, NY. She married Tommy in 1963 and in 1968 moved to Sodus Point on the Lake Street Extension, where they lived for 28 years in a house that Tommy built. Upon Tom's retiring from Kodak they moved to Port St. Lucie, FL., where they lived for 10 years before following their sons to CA.
Dorothy Jeanne was active in politics serving as Treasurer of the Wayne County Democratic Party. She was also Chairperson of the Town of Sodus Democratic Party and Villages of Sodus and Sodus Point. She was twice an unsuccessful Democrat Candidate for Wayne County Clerk. Though defated for the Clerk's position, Dorothy Jeanne felt honored to have had the opportunity to seek election on the Democratic Platform. Among her varied career opportunities Dorothy Jeanne served as Village Clerk of Sodus Point and Editor of the Sodus Record.
Jeanne had many different and interesting work experiences, but her most favorite work of all was the one she loved best was the one titled Mother.
A Memorial Service will be held Celebrating Jeanne's Life at Abe's Waterfront, Sodus Point, NY on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 12 Noon.
