Howard Axelrod Obituary
Rochester: August 22, 2008. Survived by wife, Shirley; daughter, Diane Pariser; sons, Glenn (Helena) Axelrod & Ted Axelrod (fiancé, Mara Ambielli); grandchildren, Samuel, Jordan, Jamie, Jacob, Jehanna & Joshua.
Loving husband, father & grandfather, Howard was a respected physician in the community for over 50 years and an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a caring, compassionate person who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Graveside Services will be held 11AM on Sunday, August 24th at Mt. Hope Cemetery. (Please gather at the main entrance) In lieu of flowers, contributions preferred to the Jewish Home Foundation or The Howard and Glenn Axelrod Fund at the University of Rochester Medical School. Shiva will be observed at 80 Coniston Road, Rochester Sunday, Monday & Tuesday from 6-9PM. For directions or to leave a message of condolence, please visit:

I am so very sorry to hear of Howard's passing. He was a wonderful doctor and a caring friend and mentor. Not one day passes without my thinking of him. He changed and saved my life and in doing so, he changed the lives of my husband and children. I will always be grateful. Bob and I send our sincerest condolences to the entire family.

To the family of Dr. Axelrod,
I was so sad to hear of his passing. I have many fond and precious memories of Dr. Axelrod as I was a patient of his for a number of years. He made me realize many things about myself and about life and calmed my fears and doubts. He was such a wonderful man and really cared about his patients. I know he is in heaven because he was such a good person and helped so many of God's children. I feel honored that I got to know him and that he was my doctor, he helped me so very much!
