Julia Hodes Obituary
(nee Vogel)
Getzville: Formerly of Rochester, entered into rest peacefully, August 27, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Bernard "Bernie" A. Hodes; devoted mother of Joanne (Matt) Plunkett; cherished grandmother of Bryan and Geoffrey Plunkett; loving daughter of the late Andreas and Katherine (nee Kirchner) Vogel; dear sister of the late Betty Lategano, Frank Vogel, Henry Vogel, Katherine Oleksyn, Rose Leo and Maria Lovett. Survived by loving Vogel and Hodes family members and many loving friends, especially Carol (late Stanley) Napierala, Ruth Engel and Lila Hodgerney for their many years of joy, comfort and support.
No prior visitation. A Mass celebrating Julia's life will be offered in St. Joseph's University Church, 3269 Main St., Buffalo on Saturday (September 6th) at 9 o'clock and a brief service will be held at the ARNDT FUNERAL HOME, 1118 Long Pond Rd., Rochester, on Saturday (September 6th) at 12 o'clock noon. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY. Contributions may be made in Julia's memory to the American Lung Assn., 61 Broadway, New York, NY. 10006. Arrangements by the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME and the ARNDT FUNERAL HOME.

What a wonderful woman to be idolized, Julie pushed us all to move beyond our abilities to embrace life celebrating every moment. I'll never forget the look on your mom's face as we bowled together "she was the arm, I was the eyes" for the first time. This was only surpassed when SHE was the one to break the cinco de mayo pinata, hanging the head she named waldo, in her room. I am so very grateful I was able to call her 'friend'.
