Brett Mincher Obituary

Mincher, Brett M.
Brockport: May 13, 1985-September 1, 2008. Age 23. Suddenly after losing a difficult battle with mental illness. He is survived by his parents, Jane and Michael Mincher; his older brother, Derek; grandfather, Frederick Beyer and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also friends whose support we appreciate, Andrew, Josh, Chris, Junior, Grant, Jerod, Adam, Joe and others.
Before his illness Brett was bright, creative and known for his sophisticated sense of humor. He was the best reader in Miss Bett's Kindergarten Class. Brett graduated from Brockport High School and EMCC. He could write computer code at an early age and briefly pursued a career in the printing industry. He aspired to be a film-maker. One of his projects is online at YouTube ATV Cowboy and Classic Brockport. He briefly served in the US Navy, graduating from basic training at Great Lakes, IL. Brett had great pride in this accomplishment. He loved his brother, Derek very much.
Our thanks to the staff at RPC for their service and caring. We are very appreciative and thankful for the support and love of our families and friends at this difficult time.
Friends may call Saturday, 2-5 & 7-8 PM at Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport, where his Funeral Service will be held at 8 PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Although I did not know Brett or you all, his family, I am writing to express my admiration for your honesty in listing his cause of death as mental illness. We have struggled with this in our own family and it is truly still a hidden epidemic. I am so sorry that the battle for Brett could not be won. My thoughts are with you as you struggle to deal with his absence

Dear Michael, Jane and Derek,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this tough time. I first met Brett many years ago and his intelligent, comical personality will always be in my rememberance of great, memorable people. I wish the best of the Mincher family and hope that they can find light in this dark time because the lord will surely not forget about him; with all the goodness that Brett had in his heart and the way he touched the lives around him.

Jane, Mike, and Derek,

Linda and I extend our deepest sympathies.

My memories of Brett are from his younger years, when working with him and Derek, as they explored the new technolgy of computers. I recall his sense of humor. Ran into him a couple of years ago on New Years Eve and he was proud to be member of US Navy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
