Tofany, Elizabeth Anderson
PITTSFORD: Died September 8, 2008 at the age of 83. Daughter of the late Willard August Anderson and Margaret O'Neill Anderson of Fulton, NY. Predeceased by son, Robert Farrell Tofany, who died at the age of 15 of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Also predeceased by brother, Willard Thomas Anderson of Saratoga Springs, NY and sister, Margaret Anderson Kiely of Southampton, NH; "Betty" is survived by their spouses, Gail Anderson and Peter Kiely of the same addresses.
Survived by caring and devoted husband, Dr. Bernard E. Tofany and ever caring daughter Lisa Tofany Groos (Thomas Tyden Groos) of Greenwich, CT; grandchildren Julie Farrell Groos of Chicago, IL and Nicholas Tyden Groos, a senior at Cornell University.
Surviving siblings and spouses include Mary Louise Anderson Mason (Dr. Sam) of Naples, FL, Richard Farrell Anderson (Mary Alice) of Syracuse, NY, Karen Anderson Harrison (Milo) of Fox Lake, IL, John Francis Anderson (Grace) of Naples, FL, and Neill Edward Anderson (Susan) of Spring, TX. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Betty was a graduate of Fulton High School, Fulton, NY and Syracuse University, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a Professor of Health and Science at SUNY Oneonta and worked as a nurse at the V.A. in Rochester, NY.
Friends may call Thursday, 2-4, 7-9 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 11 AM at St. Louis Church, 60 South Main Street, Pittsford, NY. Interment at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may contribute to the "Robert Farrell Tofany Scholarship Fund" at Bishop Kearney High School, 125 Kings Highway South, Rochester, NY 14617.
