To my cousins Bobby, Nancy and Mary Ellen, the extended family and friends that were lucky enough to know Aunt Beb:
Saying good-bye to someone who we love, cherish and respect is never an easy undertaking. We want one more year, a month. at least a week to tell them how much they impacted our lives. We feel cheated because someone who is so good, someone who means so much to us has been taken from us. We feel hurt, we grieve, and we try to comfort each other.
My Aunt Beb was a very special person. I always felt a special bond with her from early childhood memories. She was my second mom. The times we showed up on a weekend and camped out in her back yard late on a Friday night anticipating seeing the Hess family for early Saturday morning breakfast. The great times we had as kids growing up at “the family campground” where all the cousins, aunts and uncles were in one place together enjoying our extended families and playing in the barn on the hill. The famous Uncle Bob clambakes at the house, Bobby eating hot pork chops right off the grill at the campground. I remember the many family gatherings in Rochester. We were very fortunate as children that our parents knew the importance of family.
As we got older and became scattered all over the country, we lost touch with those who mean so much to us. Our lives became so hectic that we just didn’t seem to find the time to connect and tell those who helped mold us how important they were to us. Aunt Beb taught me compassion, strength and always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. She always seemed to have a smile that was contagious, even in time of family tragedy. It was her strength and compassion that I admire so much.
My heart goes out to my cousins and all who knew my Aunt Beb. She will be truly missed, but never forgotten, as she will live in all of us forever. I take comfort in knowing she is with Uncle Bob and all our family that has preceded her into heaven. There is another bright shining star in the sky for me to look up to tonight. God bless you Aunt Beb.

Mary was one of the sweetest women I've ever known. Her smiling face will be missed at all future Abraham gatherings. One comforting thought: she's with her love Robert and with her mom (& Bobby!)
