Edward Esse Obituary

Esse, Edward W.
Irondequoit. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Age 93. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rita. Mr. Esse is survived by his sister Lillian E. Shangraw; nieces, Sandra L. Esse, Jaquie Quartieri, Marcia (Paul) Sidmore, Patricia (Jack) Pscheirer, Dorothy Wyand, Joyce (Louis) Kelly, Shelia Kotwas, nephews David (Elizabeth) Gebo, Douglas Glenn, great nieces & nephews.
Ed was a graduate of Aquinas Institute and St. Bonaventure University (Class 0f '38). A WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, Ed was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Bronze Indian Heads Arrow for the "D" invasion of the Philippines.
After the war Ed was a Veteran Representative with N.Y.S. Employment Service for 16 years. He received many citations for his work from the American Legion, V.F.W. and Disabled Veterans organizations. He was a Commander with the Catholic War Veterans.
Ed worked for N.Y.S. government for 31 years in several supervisory positions including the National Alliance of Businessmen, Rochester JOBS Inc. and community Employer Relations. During retirement, Ed became a member of the Catholic Rosary Makers and was cited for making 10,000 rosaries.
His family will receive friends THURSDAY 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Friends are invited to meet the family FRIDAY at 10:00 am at ST. ANN'S HOME CHAPEL for his funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Masses may be offered in his memory.
