Sean May Obituary

May, Sean David
Denver Colorado, formerly of Fairport, NY died Wednesday, August 27th outside his Denver home at age 37. He leaves behind his wife, Corin Flannigan who is expecting their first child, his parents Bill and Pat, his brother Matt May (fiancée Monica Stodler), and sister in-law, Nicole Flannigan.
Sean graduated from Fairport High School in 1989 where he was class treasurer, member of the football team, and participated in several FHS theater productions. He graduated with a BA in Political Science from Stanford University in 1993 and received his JD from the University of Virginia in 1998. He joined the Law Firm of Cooley & Godward in Denver, and in 2001 joined the Adams County District Attorney's office where he was a highly respected and successful prosecutor.
Being unaware that he too would become a victim of homicide, in April, 2008 Sean was chosen to be the recipient of the Ed Towey award for his outstanding service to victims of crime. Two months ago he was promoted to Chief Trial Deputy where he supervised and trained 16 new deputy district attorneys.
Sean was deeply respected by judges, his colleagues in the DA's office, and members of the Denver area law enforcement community. His family, many friends, and colleagues mourn his passing.
A Memorial Service was held at the Buell Theater in Denver on Thursday, September 4th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sean May Memorial Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, a link can be found at:

Sean was a student in our fourth and fifth grade class at West Avenue School. He was a fine student and a true friend to his classmates. May the love and prayers of family and friends help bring you comfort and peace.
